Prompt: The two best known civil rights leaders, Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X, had a common end goal – both wanted Americans of African descent to enjoy the same freedoms and opportunities as those enjoyed by other Americans. However, they had very different philosophies and therefore different strategies to achieve that same end goal. Essential Question: Which Civil Rights leader had the best strategy to achieve equality? If you were alive during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 60s, which leader would you have followed?

Directions:
1. Use the two readings to answer the Guiding Questions.
2. Use evidence from both readings to complete the written response. Be sure to include a claim, sourcing, corroboration, contextualization, counterclaim, and refutation.
3. Sign up for a Zoom meeting and BE PREPARED TO DISCUSS THE READINGS.
