Welcome to Studio S6--Beginning and Intermediate Ceramics/Intermediate and Advanced Art
An Arts education is an essential part of any well-rounded education. Art is full of self-discovery and expression. Creativity and innovation as well as the development of visual communications skills are key to the work we do and are also at the center of the San Lorenzo Unified School District Graduation Profile. We have opportunities throughout the year to build our skills and also share our work with the greater community. SLz artists have been featured this year at Hayward's Sun Gallery and the Hayward Arts Council Gallery and REACH Ashland Youth Center's Dia de los Muertos Community Celebration.
2020 will certainly be a memorable school year. Life for everyone took an unexpected turn due to the COVID-19 virus. I hope you and your family are safe and healthy. My love is sent to all those enduring hardships right now and we'll all do our part to get through it together. And students, know that our counselors are still here to serve you. Just contact them to make an appointment. There are many services, including meal pick-ups, offered by the school district and the community. Please reach out and know that help is there. AND, be sure to watch for those bright spots in your days. The Arts can be a wonderful healing place :)
Sadly, also due to our Shelter in Place order, our Artists' Reception scheduled for our Show @ the D.O. on Wednesday, March 25, 4--6pm, had to be cancelled. The wonderful student work that is currently on display at the District Office will be removed as soon as the shelter is lifted and will be available for pick-up. I will post information about days and times as soon as I know. We're already looking forward to and planning next year's show!
About Ms. Davis...
I am a proud graduate of San Lorenzo High School (Yes! That's my graduation photo!) as are both my son, Andy, and daughter, Liz. I attended Chabot College and have a BA in Art from California State University, Hayward. Prior to coming to SLz, I taught art Barnard White Middle School in Union City, Edendale Middle School and Washington Manor Middle School and was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Middle Level Art Educator by the California State Art Education Association.
During this time that we are sheltered, my office hours are as follows--
You may contact me by sending a message to my DISTRICT mail address firstname.lastname@example.org (this is not my gmail account, which has a mountain of messages and assignments that I'm constantly working to stay on top of.) You may also call my voicemail and leave a message. 510-317-3057. I will return your email message or call during the office hours or sometime during the same day. NOTE that the call will be returned from a blocked phone number. PLEASE CONTINUE TO TURN ASSIGNMENTS IN TO GOOGLE CLASSROOM, not this District Mail or gmail address. Thank you! <3
