In 10 years, I should be close to retirement, working part time, or already retired. I hope to be living in my own tiny house on the property of one of my kids. If I am retired, I will be doing personal training, weightlifting for moms and grandmas. Most importantly, I will be fully invested in my grandchildren's lives. I will be taking them on adventures like hiking, road trips, beach days, and world travel. In 20 years it will be 2040, I will be my dad's age but I hope I won't be living from one doctor's visit to the next. I would just like to be healthy and able to travel. I could even have a great grandchild by then.

To me, a hero is selfless. It is a person who puts the health and welfare of others before themselves. I think they have achieved balance in their lives so they do take care of themselves because they know that if they are not okay they can't help others. However, when push comes to shove, they always make decisions for the greater good. Of course the medical personel during a pandemic are definitely heros in a big way. Many are not living with their families and they go in risking their own lives daily to care for others. I also think that those who are following the shelter in place and diligently wearing a mask when they have to go in public, are heros in a big way by making these sacrifices that help our heros who have to care for the sick. Lastly, teenagers who are caring for their siblings and helping with cooking and cleaning while their parents go to work are also being heroes. If you are stepping up and making these selfless efforts for the greater good, I commend you, I appreciate you, and I honor you as a hero. ~Love, Ms. Bellamy
Due:
When I became a parent I always wanted to make sure my girls could talk to me about anything and that they felt truly heard. I wanted to make sure to have a very close relationship with my girls where they know I love them unconditionally and I am here to support them and not judge them. I feel like I accomplished these differences and my daughters have told me over the years since they have become adults, that they appreciate me for doing those things differently. We are very close, we have an ongoing group text and have family dinner every Sunday. Now we have family Zoom time and I have gone to their homes to talk to them through the window and see my grandson. I miss hugging them so much!

There are many countries I would love to visit! However, this question during the pandemic makes me lean toward thinking about the countries that have handled the outbreak very well. Two in particular that I read about this weekend are Germany and New Zealand. I have wanted to see New Zealand since I found out that most of the Lord of the Rings movie adaptations to the AMAZING BOOK TRILOGY, was filmed on this island country of about 5 million people. Even though it is located way down under the equator, I always think of it as "Middle Earth" where all of the fantastic creatures live. I have wanted to visit Germany as a historical country that bore a horrible murderous dictator who started WWII. Both of these countries have leaders that have done a remarkable job of saving lives during the World Pandemic. Not surprising to me, both countries are lead by women. That's right, look it up. What habit, hobby, love, or skill have you learned/gained since we have been sheltering in place? If you haven't acquired anything new, what do you want to learn to do?
Ms. Bellamy's response:
I have learned new excercises with minimal equipment. I discovered that I LOVE Nutella! I started cooking meals again, and I realized I still hate cooking. LOL! I am waiting for a material shipment and I am going to learn a new pattern for cloth masks. I know how to sew, but I haven't made anything in years. I usually only mend things with my machine. I also think I would like to learn a couple of new dances. I found some fun ones on TikTok so we shall see!

Point-of-View
Any piece of writing is told from a specific point-of-view. Sometimes it is from the author’s point-of-view, sometimes it is from one of the characters’ points-of-view, and sometimes it is from the point-of-view of an outside observer.
For this activity, you are going to re-tell the story we read these past two weeks from a different point-of-view. (“Big Boy”, “Only Daughter”, “Being Stupid”)
For example, you could choose to re-write the story from the perspective of the person waiting in line for the bathroom, the person who actually left “big boy” or even from the poo’s point-of-view (ew!).
Your re-write needs to be at least a half page typed in length. It should follow the basic plot of the original story, but it doesn’t have to include everything.
Have fun with this and be creative!
Due:
Practice, practice, practice: the best way to assure a smooth, perfectly timed, and less anxious presentation is to practice in front of a mirror. You must present from 2.5 (minimum) to 4 minutes (maximum).
*Do not read everything on the slide: Talk naturally about the most important aspects of the slide. You must present from 2.5 (minimum) to 4 minutes (maximum).
*Create simple note cards with what you want to say about each slide. You must present from 2.5 (minimum) to 4 minutes (maximum).
*Open the slideshow and practice the timing while looking at yourself in the mirror: only glance at note cards or slides DO NOT READ FROM SLIDE OR CARDS, LOOK UP AT AUDIENCE. You must present from 2.5 (minimum) to 4 minutes (maximum).
*POSTURE: stand up straight, shoulders back, confident; do not lean on the wall or table
*EYE CONTACT: if you make note cards of what you want to say and practice in the mirror, you will be better able to look at your audience. If you are super nervous, look just above everyone's head so it looks like you are making eye contact but you aren't.
*ENUNCIATE CLEARLY: with practice you will be less likely to say "umm" and "like" as fillers, it is also never a good idea to have gum or candy when presenting.
