Due:
As we end our time together as student and teacher, I'd like you to take a moment to reflect on what you learned this year, the things you are proud of about your journey, the things you wish you'd done differently, and any burning questions that remain unanswered. It's been a pleasure working with you for the past school year and I wish you all the best of luck in the future. Hopefully we'll see each other on campus next year!
Due:
In this week's activities, you will be learning about how the Cold War intensified in the early 1960s under Nikita Khrushchev before finally beginning to "thaw out" in the 1980s.
Questions to consider:
How did the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. continue to challenge each other in the 1960s?
How did Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev help ease restrictions in the U.S.S.R. and in Eastern Europe?
How did the communist nations of Eastern Europe gain their independence from the U.S.S.R.?
How did the U.S.S.R. ultimately come to an end?

Due:
Your goal this week is to learn about how the battle between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. expanded, as both countries - and their ideologies - struggled to gain influence in Asia and around the world, and how some living under Soviet rule in Europe began to fight back against communism.
Follow the same model as last week, defining key terms and gathering evidence to support your summative claim for each assignment.
The main questions to consider this week are:
How did the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. attempt to gain influence and control in Asia (and elsewhere)?
Was America justified (that is, was it right) in trying to prevent the spread of communism around the world? Why or why not?
Why was America less successful in containing communism in Asia than it had been in Europe?
What are some common features of life in communist societies? What effects did the Cold War (the competition between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R.) have on people around the world?
How did people resist communism?

Your goal this week is to learn about how tensions grew between the United States and the U.S.S.R. (Soviet Union) after WWII.
The main questions to consider this week are:

What were each country's goals for post-war Europe?
How did each country go about achieving its goals?
Which country was more successful in achieving its goals?
How did the two countries compete?
