Sheltered English 11/12-Period 2 Assignments

On the days when reading pages are required, you will need to check Google Classroom for the pages to get uploaded. They are not ready in advance.

Each day, read the pages assigned as new material, then complete the response frames assigned for the day. You will have to wait for Ms. C to post the pages. She only does one recording each day.

Please only do the extra credit if you are all caught up with the assignments in Google Classroom. If you are, then read the short novel attached below called The Big Wave by Pearl S. Buck. There is YouTube audio that you can listen to while you read if you want. After you finish the book, create a Storyboard in Storyboardthat.com. Don't forget to login using your school Google account to see the assignment.

April 1: Read the introduction to the poem in the document & answer 3 questions
April 2: Read the poem "Crossing the Line" & complete part 1
April 3: Complete part 2 for the poem "Crossing the Line" and turn in to Google Classroom

Week 2 Days 2 - 5 (March 24-March 31)
Each day watch the video for 20 minutes and complete the Video Connections for each daily part
Tuesday, 3/31 - complete the summary frames at the end of the Google Document and Turn In to Google Classroom

Day 4: Complete the first half of the SOAPSTone chart for the Sonia Nazario article you read on day 1
Day 5: Complete the second half of the SOAPSTone chart

Day 1: Read the article - highlight vocabulary words that you are unsure of definitions (on the computer document)
Day 2: Complete part 1 of the article response
Day 3: Complete part 2 of the article response & Turn In assignment to Google Classroom

The oldest person in the group should open the document and then share it with the other two people in the group.
