Beginning Art 2020-2021 Bauer-Period 2 Assignments

For those of you that need a copy of the form for presentations feedback...

1. Complete the Google slideshow with all the information included on this template.
2. Make your presentation visually appealing by using interesting fonts, backgrounds and images.
3. Make sure you find your information from at least 3 different sources and you cite these sources on the last slide, the citation page.
4. If you want to present your project in a different way than a Google Slideshow, you can do that too as long as you include all the research information and visuals of your artist's work and cite your sources.
5.You can make a video about your artist, dress up as your artist and talk about "yourself" and record it. Just let me know if you want to present in an alternative way.
6. Remember you can earn extra credit by volunteering to present next week either on Monday or Friday to the whole class or to a small group for extra credit! If you want to do this just let me know by tomorrow...
7. You will have all next week to work on your projects, so make sure you ask me any questions you have next week.
8. Your project will be due the week when we come back from winter break and you will present it either that week or the next week during our final day.

Think about what type of art you are interested in and choose an artist who does this kind of art.
The History of Modern Art video showed us several types of art you can choose from. I have attached a brief summary of some of those types of art explained in the video and some names of artists who do/did those kinds of art.
You can choose from one of those artists or you can choose your own.
After you pick an artist, fill out the attached form about your artist.
If you need help selecting an artist that fits your interests, please ask me by Friday so I can help you find someone who will be interesting to you.

Take your time and try to draw the hallway like it is in the video for some extra one point perspective practice.

1. We will work on this in class on Monday 11. 8.20
2. If you do not attend class, view the attached file and follow the steps to draw a bedroom in one point perspective.
3. Use a ruler if you have one (if you do not, you can use the edge of another paper or the edge of a book)
4. Take your time and do your best work.
5. Draw your lines lightly because you will end up erasing many of them.
6. Follow all the steps to complete your drawing.
7. Take a photo of your work and submit it here.

1. We will do this together in class. If you miss class or do not finish in class, you can watch the video below.
2. Follow all the steps and use a ruler for your lines if you have one. (if not you can use another paper or a book as a straight edge.
3. Take your time and be as precise as possible.
4. Take a photo of your final drawing and submit it.

We will watch this video in class and discuss the elements of shape and form.
Answer the questions on the Google form and submit for credit.
Remember to type your first and last name on the first questions or you may not receive credit.

1. We started this in class on Monday. If you need a refresher, watch the video by clicking on the link on Slide #7.
2. Use the graphite transfer method to draw a calavera (skull) with symmetrical balance.
3. Add lots of details to your calavera to make it unique!
4. Add color if you can!

1. The video for the drawing we started in class last week is attached below.
2. We only completed the first part (up until 5 minutes and 20 seconds). We will be doing the second part in class next week, so you don't need to do that part yet.
3. After you complete the whole video and add shading to your cubes, post a photo of your final drawing.

3. If you do not have access to colors, you can attach a photo of your work without colors. But, hold onto this art piece until you receive colors from my supply distribution so you can color it later!

3. If you started to work on this in class with, you can finish the one you started or start a new one.
4. If you have colors, please add colors!!! You get extra points if you color!

1.We watched the video and talked about this assignment in class on 10.9.20.
2. To complete this project, you can finish the work you started in class or do a new one.
(Remember this looks easier than it actually is, so if you do more than one, chances are you will get better at it!)
3. Watch the video again to see how the coloring is done. If you do not have access to colored pencils or crayons just take a photo of your work with the lines and attach it here.
4. Please if you do have colors, take the time to color your Op art lines because they look really cool and coloring (and art in general can be very helpful in dealing with stress during these crazy times!)
5. Remember to take your time and do a good job. You will be graded on your effort, so slow down and do your best work!
You can fold a regular 8.5x11 paper and do this work on half of the paper.
6. If you missed class when this assignment was given, make sure you watch the video before you do the project!

2. Submit two ideas in the form of an artist's statement to Ms. Bauer by the end of the class period.
3. Ms. Bauer will comment and help guide you on your idea.
4. Sketch out your design with pencil on a blank white copy size 8.5x11 paper or bigger.
5. Be sure to follow the guidelines for the assignment attached below.
6. Your grade on this project will be based on effort, so please take your time and do your best work.
A. First you will turn in your artist's statement (2 ideas at least).
B. Second you will turn in a photo of your work when you are half of the way done.
C. Third, you will submit a photo of your completed work along with 2 sentences of an artist's statement that explains your project.
7. Please make sure you talk to Ms. Bauer if you have any questions.
*You can focus on any of the issues we brainstormed in class, or choose your own issue. Just pick one social/political issue that is important to you to focus on. Your issue doesn't have to be something political. It can be something that personally affects you (like heart break, love, acne, etc). Also, your issue does not have to be a negative one. (For example, it could be an illustration of being in love or world peace or human connection)

We will be watching the videos that I have posted below in class today 10.6.20 and discussing our next unit of Op Art.
After watching the videos, complete the attached form.
Make sure you include three complete ideas you learned or observations you have about Op Art. (Do not write things like it's cool. If you like this type of art, try to think of what specifically it is about it you like it and include this in your response.)

3. We have been studying the work of the artist Keith Haring. He made most of his art work in the 80s. It is important to examine the society in which an artist lives to better understand their work.
4. Start to think about what issues in today's society are important to you. How can you use your art work to make a statement about these issues in politics/culture or your own personal life!

This is extra credit! Please see the instructions below. Make sure you also submit your entries to me. Everyone who participates will receive extra credit. The winners will receive a prize. There will also be an award given to the class with the most submissions. I encourage all to participate!

3. Don't forget to put your full name and period on the first line on the form. It makes it easier when I am putting your grades on Aeries.

1. We will work on this in class, but if you missed class please watch the video below that explains the assignment.
2. Fold a paper in half. Put a timer on for 15 minutes and draw one continuous line without lifting your pen/pencil off the paper. Try to keep moving forward and not go back over lines or cross over lines. If you make a mistake just keep going.
3. You can try to make things with your line or you can just draw lines. Have fun!
