ELD Content 2-4th Period Assignments

Your Final Project for this class will be a slideshow and presentation on ONE ancient civilization.  You will choose to work on either Ancient Rome or Ancient Greece.  Use the instructions document to help you create your slideshow.  There are also instructions on each slide (at the bottom).


You will receive 50 points for the completed slideshow and 50 points for the presentation.



Your completed slideshow is due on Friday, June 4, and you will present your slideshow on Tuesday, June 8.

Follow the link to go to BrainPop and watch the movie on Ancient Rome.  Use the movie to fill in the missing words on the Ancient Rome Transcript.

Please complete this survey to show which ancient civilization you want to work on for the final project.

Watch the movie on Athens, and then fill out the graphic organizer.  Each category should have at least one sentence about that category.  (For example, under GOVERNMENT you can write down the type of government that was practiced in Athens.)  Be sure you are logged into your Google account to access the BrainPop assignment.

Directions: Use page 75 to help create a Web of the main events that led to the Beginnings of Christianity.  You should include only the main events and leave out small details. Each circle should have one event that contributed to the start of Christianity.

The Ten Commandments were a set of laws or rules for life.

Your task today is to create eight rules for school. You can choose to write rules for in-person school or on-line school (or both!)

You need to write four rules for what students (or teachers) should do, and four rules for what students (or teachers) should not do in school.

You can do this work by yourself, or with a partner.

Each rule should also have a picture.

Grammar Note: When you write about what someone should or should not do, you use the infinitive form of the verb:

You should go to bed early every night.
You should eat vegetables every day.
You should not eat too much junk food.

1) Find the slide with your name on it.
2) You will have 4 minutes to write at least ONE commandment for school. You will write what students or teachers SHOULD or SHOULDN’T do. (It can be one of the commandments from your homework assignment!)
3) You can include a picture, if you want!
4) Then you will read your commandment out loud to the class.

1. Read the paragraph about slash-and-burn agriculture on page 49 (second paragraph) of the Access World History Textbook.
2. Create 5 slides that show the process of slash-and-burn agriculture. Each slide must have a sentence about the process, and a picture that illustrates the sentence.
3. Be sure your slides go in chronological order.
4. Be prepared to present your slides to the class on Thursday, January 14.

Read the article and be sure you understand some of the differences between maps and globes. Underline the words you don't understand and look up their meanings.
