Week 10 Day 1 - Find the Missing Side Using Sine in Google Classroom

Week 10 Day 1 - Find the Missing Side Using Sine

Today's assignment focuses on finding missing sides for right triangles using the SINE function.

I made new Yellow Notes that show an example of how I used the sine function to find a missing side of a right triangle.

I am also including a new video that shows another example. I am re-posting the Right Triangle Trigonometric Functions and the video that we have reviewed before (this video is a good one to watch again to help with using the calculator for the trig functions).

Week 10 Day 3 - Khan Academy Right Triangle Trig

Today's assignment about Right Triangle Trigonometric Functions will be completed on our class page in Khan Academy. There are two videos (little triangle) and two sets of practice problems (little star). Be sure to watch the videos. You can go back and re-watch the videos if you need to. Then do the exercises where you will be asked to practice with problems like the ones Mr. Khan explains in the video.

The assignment is actually being completed in the Khan Academy website. I am able to see what you have completed (and the answers you enter). Some of still have Khan Academy assignments to complete. 😒

IMPORTANT: If you have NOT joined our class page in Khan Academy, go back to the assignment for Week 5 Day 3 and complete it BEFORE doing today's assignment!! You must join the class first! After you join, please let me know. I need to update the class to include you.

Week 9 Day 1 - Writing Sine Ratios in Google Classroom

Week 9 Day 1 - Writing Sine Ratios

Today's assignment will only focus on the SINE function! You need to write the sine ratio for each problem. You are just writing the ratio or fraction for each one. Be sure to simplify the fractions. I did the first problem for you. 🙂

The first thing that you should do for each problem is label the hypotenuse, opposite and adjacent sides based on the given reference angle. Use the Yellow Notes to help you label the sides of the triangles correctly! I have included them again in this post.

I also included the video from last week in the post and as a link on the assignment document. Please watch it again to review the "formulas" for the trig functions, including SOH CAH TOA.

Friday Reflection 5/22-

Senior Cap & Gown pick up is happening today (and happened yesterday). Even though we are having to adapt our Senior traditions, this event has me thinking about the opportunities that lie ahead for the Class of 2020.

It also makes me wonder about the goals and dreams of all my students. After you graduate from high school, what would you like to do? What college do you want to attend? What career do you want to have? Where do you see yourself in ten years?

Week 8 Day 1 - Identifying Parts of Right Triangles in Google Classroom

Week 8 Day 1 - Identifying Parts of Right Triangles

Use the Yellow Notes to help you label the sides of each right triangle. You may use the abbreviations ADJ (adjacent), OPP (opposite) and HYP (hypotenuse).

HINT FROM MS. CRISTOFANI: Label the hypotenuse first! When I label the hypotenuse first, I identify the parts correctly. When I don't label the hypotenuse first, I identify them wrong.

Week 8 Day 3 - More Identifying Sides of Right Triangles in Google Classroom

Week 8 Day 3 - More Identifying Sides of Right Triangles

After reviewing how people are doing with identifying the hypotenuse, adjacent and opposite sides of right triangles, it is clear that more practice is needed. This means that not everyone is doing it correctly.

I really recommend that you FIRST label the hypotenuse which is always across from the right angle. So find the right angle, travel across from it and label that side across from the right angles as the hypotenuse.

Then locate the reference angle and figure out the adjacent and opposites sides.

Use the Yellow Notes from Week 8 Day 1's assignment post.

Since being at home more, I have that I can't really ignore the household chores as much. But I hate chores! What is your LEAST favorite chore to do at home? in Google Classroom

This week your assignments included Khan Academy. How does the format of Khan Academy work for you?

Do you remember learning about the Pythagorean Theorem on middle school?

I remember learning that Pythagoras did not want people around him to eat beans because he didn't want them farting and interfering with higher level thinking. I generally like beans. What is your favorite food to eat?
