A Little About Me
I grew up in Evanston, Illinois. I am still thawing out from my childhood. I attended Evanston Township High School. I received a scholarship to attend Colgate University in upstate New York. I played Division I tennis and graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology and Sociology from Colgate University in 1992. In 1995, I attended the School For International Training in Brattleboro and received an MAT in TESOL (Teaching English as A Second or Other Language) and Spanish. In 2003, I took a hiatus from teaching and worked on a MFA in Photography from the Academy of Art in San Francisco.
I've been an educator since 1993. I worked in Albuquerque Public schools as a bilingual resource teacher in elementary school for 5 years. I taught university and graduate students in Poland, Los Angeles (Glendale College and Mission College), Stanford, El Salvador and The Academy of Art in the English as a Foreign Language departments. I have been teaching in the San Lorenzo District for the past 15 years. I taught bilingual first and second grade at Hesperian for 12 years. Currently, I teach art and photography at San Lorenzo High School. Last year, I added the art licensure to my credential. I have also served as the girls' tennis coach and the badminton coach.
I love teaching at the high school level and being part of the SLZ community. It is so amazing to get to see students that I had in first grade at Hesperian in my art classes and to watch them graduate.
In my free time, I help support my elderly parents and spend time with my partner, step kids, dog and three cats. I love to travel! I have visited about 49 countries so far. I love to study foreign languages, play tennis, watch movies, play games (Scattergories is my favorite), spend time with close friends, read and write.
