Hi. I'm a Bay Area native, being born in Oakland, California. I am a proud first-generation Mexican-American, who feels truly bicultural. I would spend every summer in Jalisco, Mexico. My first language is Spanish and I learned English in this school district. Don't be surprised if you learn a few Spanish words while taking any of my classes.
I graduated from Arroyo High School, although I will always be a Titan! I received my BA in Geography from CSU Hayward. I went on to received a doctorate of chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College West. A shoulder injury cIosed one door, but opened the door to teaching. I received my teaching credential from Holy Names University. I have had the pleasure of teaching at San Lorenzo High School for almost 20 years. Primarily teaching health and history courses.
While not teaching, I love keeping my cultural traditions alive. So yes, I love to cook (tamales at Christmas is obligatory). I enjoy reading and try especially hard to read in Spanish. I love to travel, for the most part discovering my homeland.
